This year I have added many more benches full of perennials. More plants available each month.
Those of you who haven't been here before are invited to come out and see what we have to offer. With over 70 different perennials to choose from, and all the information on how to tend to your new plants, you will be glad you came. Those of you who know nothing about plants don't be afraid to ask questions. I am happy to assist you in finding the right plant for your gardens! We also have maps of nearby garden businesses.

Get the new hosta of the year for 2008 here! Blue Mouse Ears is the new dwarf hosta of the year for 2008.
We have gold, blue, varigated, green, misted, dwarf, small, medium, large, and huge hostas to choose from. There is a hosta for everyone here! Over 35 different selections to choose from. Prices range from $8.00 to $32.00. All hosta and perennial info will be updated by April.
Renee’s Hidden Gardens Free Classes & Events for 2008
May 17th sat- Learn the Real Dirt on Composting 9am-10am
Class taught by Master Gardener Theresa Greene. Have you been wanting to make your own compost, instead of paying for it? This free class will teach you how to make your own organic rich compost, with materials from home. This is a gardener’s way of turning trash to treasure! Now you will be able to grow bigger and better plants. Refreshments will be provided for. Please call to sign up for class in advance. (Outdoor class)
June 21st Sat - Children’s Bible Story Time 9am-10am This is a free children’s class on learning about God’s nurturing love. Children can listen to a bible story, and will pot up a free plant to learn to love and nurture. Class will meet under the apple trees. Class will be taught by owner Renee Kissner and a special guest from Bluford Church of God. Kool-Aid and Cookies will be provided. Please call and sign up in advance.
June 28th sat - Fun ways to Recycle! 9am-10:30am (right around this time) This is a fun free children’s class taught by Master Gardener Theresa Greene & Junior Master Gardener Josh Greene. This class will teach youngsters to make their very own self-watering pot and watering can, from a 2 Liter Soda Bottle and a Plastic Detergent Bottle. Soil and plants for pots will be provided. Please bring any empty 2 Liter Soda Bottle and an empty Detergent bottle that has a handle and screw on lid. Adults please stay with children. Cookies and Kool-Aid will be provided. Please call to sign up for class in advance. Limited amount of space. Class meets under Apple Tree.
July 12th sat - Leaf Casting Workshop 9am -10:30am This free class went over well last year so we are offering it again! Class taught by Master Gardener Theresa Greene & owner Renee Kissner. I’m sure you have seen these everywhere, they are all the rage. You will be taught how to make a unique piece of artwork out of a real leaf and concrete. You can make these into birdbaths, feeders, ashtrays, or just beautiful wall art. Please bring your own chair. (If you don’t have one just let us know, so we can provide one for you) Refreshments will be provided. Please sign up in advance.
Paying Private classes-Renee’s Hidden Gardens is now offering private classes to groups of 3 or more. All supplies are included in price as well as refreshments. These will be taught by owner Renee Kissner. They are the following:
Homemade Garden Troughs- This class will teach you how to make your own trough. These look as though they are made of stone but are much lighter. They are great for succulents and alpine plants. You will be shown the steps as you make your own trough right along with Renee and your group. Make sure you are prepared to get dirty. Gloves will be provided. However please bring your own if you’re allergic to latex. At the end of the class you will get to take your trough home with you. Price is $5 per person.
Homemade Stepping Stones - This class will teach you how to make your own stepping stones that you can decorate with stones and marbles in your own design. This class is perfect for children ages 8 and up. Be prepared to get dirty. At the end of the class you will get to take home your own stepping stone. Price is $8 per person.
Please call Renee’s Hidden Gardens to sign up for classes at (618)732-0084. Please note all classes are taught outside, so dress for the weather. If hot we will be in the shade. If interested in group class for trough making or stepping stones, please call to reserve a date, then-please fill out form and send in with full payment, at least 2 weeks in advance. If something comes up where you can not come, please cancel as soon as possible, money will be refunded in the form of a gift certificate to Renee’s Hidden Gardens.
